THE
RECALCITRANT PRINCESS
The princess posed with her hands on her hips
Shook her hair and pouted her lips
Cooed in the voice that could have sunk ships
She was bored and on the edge
So the word went round from the marble hall
That the kingdom's fairest one of all
Was waiting for a suitor's call
Out on her royal ledge
The sun was setting in the west
As rider's rode with little rest
To put their medal to the test
And claim a noble's heart
The drummer's drummed
The minstrels sang
The servants served
And the church bells rang
The princess gazed down upon this gang
And bid the games to start
Oh sister don't you hear that rumbling sound?
Seems to be a curse upon this ground
I can see us lose all that we have found
We are told this flat world is now round
We are told this flat world is now round
Sounds of armor
Clashing roared
Hoof and shield
And bloodied sword
The princess sighed away quite bored
She found no interest there
Crops withered
Water spoiled
Tempers flared
Fevers boiled
The Princess wined while others toiled
To save the village fair
Oh sister don't you hear that rumbling sound?
Seems to be a curse upon this ground
I can see us lose all that we have found
We are told this flat world is now round
We are told this flat world is now round
Should the vision of a fool be the wisdom taught in school?
Can a weapon be a tool
When it's laid down in a duel?
The princess on her feather bed
Unconcerned with words she'd said
Watched the village streets run red
With blood she would not claim
The crows cried
The coffin's nailed
The runners ran
The sailors sailed
All alone the princess wailed
With no one to left to blame
Oh sister don't you hear that rumbling sound?
Seems to be a curse upon this ground
I can see us lose all that we have found
We are told this flat world is now round
We are told this flat world is now round
