Gary Stockdale

Gary Stockdale is an Emmy-nominated music composer who has written music for film, television and theatre.

Fresh out of college, Gary met Oscar-winning music composer Henry Mancini and under his tutelage learned the craft of film music composition. Through his association with Mr. Mancini, Gary was introduced to "Mission Impossible" composer Lalo Schifrin, when Mr. Schifrin was looking for a musician familiar with synthesizers and electronic composition. Alongside Mr. Schifrin, Gary worked on such films as "Sudden Impact," "Dr. Detroit," "The Osterman Weekend" and "FX2."

In 1989, Gary met Penn and Teller the "Bad Boys of Magic", and began what has become more than a decade-long association. He wrote and performed original music for their 1990 NBC television special "Don't Try This At Home," then went on to compose music for their Broadway show "Penn & Teller Rot In Hell." In addition, he scored their British Channel 4 series "The Unpleasant World of Penn & Teller" and "Phobophilia," their ABC prime-time special "Home Invasions," and their current touring show. Gary has written for such shows as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Team Knight Rider as well as numerous specials. movies and commercials. One of his favorite credits is writing for the ground-breaking failure, and now, cult-classic television show, "Cop/Rock." Every day, the entire country gets to share Gary's music on the widely-syndicated game-show, "To Tell the Truth."
